There are currently no issues with the supply of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to Fiji, and its supply remains secure.
This is a message from Fiji Gas, who says that they are closely monitoring the evolving geopolitical situation in the Middle East and its impact on global energy markets.
In a statement, they say unlike liquid fuels such as petrol and diesel, which often rely on global shipping routes affected by the Strait of Hormuz, Fiji’s LPG is sourced directly from a regional supply chain and is independent of the direct shipping disruptions currently seen in the Middle East.
Their scheduled shipments remain on track.
They also highlighted that there is no need for panic.
They are aware of reports regarding fuel concerns and are urging customers not to engage in panic buying or hoarding.
Fiji Gas says current stock levels at their terminals in Lami, Lautoka, Sigatoka, Labasa and Savusavu are well stocked, and re-supply remains on schedule.
They say regular deliveries of cylinders and bulk supplies will continue as per their normal schedule, and storing excessive amounts of gas cylinders at homes or businesses is a significant safety hazard and is highly discouraged.
In terms of price monitoring, they remain committed to working with the FCCC to ensure fair and transparent pricing for all Fijians.
