Works at the Nepani Subdivision are advancing, and families allocated homes through the recent barrel draw are expected to begin moving in by mid-year.
This was highlighted by the Nasinu Town Council Chair, Felix Magnus who revealed that when the current council first took office, it was informed there were about 30,000 applications with the Housing Authority.
He described the Nepani development as one of several housing projects underway.
He says the project targets first-time home buyers who fall below the required $50,000 income threshold, making it accessible to families who would otherwise struggle to enter the property market.
Magnus confirmed that about 101 houses are included in this phase and noted that the second-phase area has already been cleared.
The homes were allocated through a public barrel draw conducted on 6 February at the Housing Authority Of Fiji’s head office in Valelevu, in the presence of officials from the Ministry of Housing and the Fiji Police Force, ensuring transparency in the process.
Magnus also pointed to additional housing developments planned for Veikoba Subdivision and Davuilevu, all initiated under Housing Minister Mario Nalumisa.
He stressed that affordable housing remains critical in addressing rising living costs and the growing number of families seeking secure and decent homes.
