Minister for Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau has emphasised the need to update Fiji’s regulations and policies to accommodate the growing use of electric vehicles.
Ro Filipe highlighted that while e-vehicles are entering the country, current regulations and infrastructure need urgent attention to keep pace with new technologies and vehicle types.
The Minister also addressed the question of who would bear the cost of e-vehicle infrastructure.
He says that while some private importers are developing their own recharging facilities, the government is working closely with them to plan for the future.
Ro Filipe also highlighted that forward planning is crucial as Fiji transitions toward greater adoption of electric vehicles.
