With the installation of Starlink, the people of Naigani Village in Batiki are stepping into a new chapter, where their small island community is finally connected to the rest of the world.
Through the leadership of the Naigani Development Committee, the village has successfully installed a Starlink system, now operating as a community Wi-Fi network.
The village has introduced a simple voucher system, allowing residents to purchase internet access at an affordable rate, the money collected will cover the monthly starlink subscription, and any extra funds will go back into the village to support priority projects under the Naigani Village Development Plan.
They say for the first time in history, families in Naigani now have reliable access to the internet and modern communication services, something many rural communities have long waited for.
They also stated that this is more than just internet access, it is about opportunity.
The Naigani Development Committee adds that they remain committed to initiatives that improve livelihoods, strengthen resilience, and create opportunities for future generations.
