Market vendors expect increase in sale from tomorrow

Market vendors expect increase in sale from tomorrow

Market vendors are hoping to increase their sales starting from tomorrow, after noting a drop in sales in previous weeks due to persistent bad weather and heavy rainfall.

Ronil Goundar, a resident of Korociriciri in Nausori and a vendor at the Valelevu Market, says with Christmas set for this Thursday, he remains optimistic that shoppers will return in greater numbers in the coming days.

Goundar shared that this year’s sales have been significantly lower compared to previous Christmas seasons.

He stressed that much of this downturn is due to the challenging weather, which has not only kept customers away but also affected his produce.

He says the heavy rain has forced him to sell vegetables at wholesale prices, often with little or no profit.

Goundar further explained that while customers sometimes complain about the prices of fresh fruits and vegetables, it’s important to recognize the difficulties faced by farmers, especially during periods of unfavourable weather.

Despite these challenges, Goundar is looking forward to celebrating Christmas with his family and friends.
