Man charged over alleged theft involving elderly man in Suva

A man alleged to have been involved in the alleged theft of an elderly man’s bank card and pension money has been charged.
Police say the accused has been charged with one count of theft and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The case first came to public attention after a concerned member of the public shared a detailed account on social media, sparking widespread outrage and sympathy.

Meanwhile, 86-year-old Malakai Kauwale has expressed heartfelt gratitude after receiving an overwhelming wave of public support, with more than $5,000 donated to his MPAiSA account after he was robbed.
