Mahendra Tappoo and Maya Tappoo have been recognized as Companions of the Order of Fiji, the highest civilian honour, during a special investiture ceremony at State House.
They were recognised for their leadership in establishing the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital and expanding free healthcare, education and social services to thousands of underserved Fijians.
Rajendra Kumar and Kamlesh Tappoo were also honoured, receiving Officers of the Order of Fiji for their contributions to humanitarian work, disaster response and community service.
Meanwhile, Saisree Ranjani Bhatlapenumarthy received the Honorary Medal of the Order of Fiji for her contributions to healthcare, including her role in improving the President’s mobility during official travel.
The ceremony, officiated by the President of the Republic of Fiji, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, also recognised trustees of the Sai Prema Foundation Fiji for their contributions to humanitarian and healthcare services.
Also present were Madhusudan Sai and members of the One World One Family Global Humanitarian Mission, which established the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Fiji.
In his address, the President acknowledges the organisation’s work, saying their vision and commitment led to the establishment of the hospital, which continues to provide life-changing services.
He reaffirmes his support for expanding the hospital’s services across Fiji and the Pacific, while highlighting that access to quality healthcare remains costly and out of reach for many.
The President stresses the importance of continued collaboration with Government to improve access for the underprivileged, while Government says the awards recognise individuals who have made significant contributions to national development and improving the lives of Fijians.
