Suva Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne asked this afternoon if Fijian and British national, Charlie Charters' travel to Australia for work is necessary.

Magistrate Somaratne also asked what assurances are there that Charters will return to Fiji.

Defence counsel, Seforan Fatiaki says that is why they are proposing three sureties, one that is already part of the record.

Fatiaki says they will also be providing the tickets as well as the return date for the mention of plea as well as Charters wife Vanessa is the Managing Director of the Hot Bread Kitchen.

He says this trip to Australia is specific towards Charters' employment.

Magistrate Somaratne also asked Fatiaki if he could forward the relevant details to FICAC.

Fatiaki also raised that they will be replacing Vanessa Charters who was supposed to be the second surety, as some circumstances have changed and they are proposing two other sureties who are Fiji residents and based here.

FICAC counsel, Rusiate Doidoi confirmed that he had served the second phase of disclosures this afternoon to the defence while also filing their affidavit.

Magistrate Somaratne will deliver his ruling on the bail variation tomorrow morning.
