A wreath-laying ceremony for the late former Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase was conducted by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Viliame Gavoka, at his burial site in Mavana, Vanua Balavu, Lau.

Gavoka says he is honoured, and found it an emotional experience to visit the late Qarase's home on the island, having previously only seen images on television.

He describes Qarase as a leader who was unfortunately not given the time to complete the work he had started for Fiji, an inclusive person and a mentor.

Gavoka adds that the visit was very moving and expressed hope that today’s leaders will have the strength to continue Qarase’s legacy.
