The investigation file into the death of 35 year old Richard Mock, which was submitted to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in May last year, for independent review and sanctioning of charges, is still with the DPP's Office.
Questions have been raised on what has happened in relation to this pending case, and why there has been a delay.
When contacted by fijivillage News, Police confirmed that the file is still with the Office of the DPP.
We are still awaiting a response from the DPP's Office.
It is alleged that Mock died in police custody in February last year and a group of officers at Namaka Police Station are alleged to have dumped his body in Nasau, Nadi after realising he was dead.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said in May last year that investigators had worked around the clock in transcribing the Video Recorded Interviews (VRI) of the 13 police officers alleged to be involved, ensuring the thorough conduct of investigations and the summarising of evidence relating to the case, before submission to the ODPP.
Tudravu has maintained that they are committed to being transparent and ensuring that the officers are held accountable for their actions.
