SODELPA Party Leader Viliame Gavoka

SODELPA Party Leader Viliame Gavoka says under the SODELPA government, the budget for the i-Taukei development will be increased to $158 million a year from the $15 million.

Speaking at the launch of three of their policies and budget estimates at Suvavou Village, Gavoka says they know they need to uplift the socio-economic development for the iTaukei and are serious about it, and this has been reflected in their manifesto.

He says it's an exciting development that they can campaign on their policies as they have met the requirements of the Electoral Act, in particular section 116 - 4C.

Gavoka says if someone commits to the party, they have to declare where they get their revenue from, where to spend it and how to fund it if it's a deficit or how it affects the budget of the government.

He says they follow the template that government presents to Parliament each year to create the entire budget and this gives them the confidence to go out and campaign on their policies in the coming months.
