Hindus across Fiji are joining devotees around the world in celebrating Hanuman Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman, today.
Hanuman Jayanti honours Lord Hanuman, also known as Pawan Putra and believed to be an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
Hanuman ji is revered for his extraordinary strength, courage, and devotion to Lord Ram, and stories from his childhood, including the famous tale of him swallowing the sun, are fondly remembered and shared during the celebrations.
In Fiji, devotees perform puja at home, adorning idols of Lord Hanuman with flowers, garlands, and homemade prasad.
Temples across the country are beautifully decorated with lights, flowers, and ceremonial offerings.
Many also organise Ramayana Path to seek the blessings of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman.
The celebrations also include charitable acts such as donations to the needy, reflecting the spirit of service.
Devotees involved in sports, wrestling, and martial arts also pray to Hanuman ji, seeking strength, courage, and protection.
