Heavy Rain Warning in Force nationwide as TD07F approaches

Low chance of becoming a cyclone

A heavy rain warning is now in force for the whole of Fiji as rainbands associated with Tropical Disturbance TD07F are expected to affect the country.

A Strong Wind Warning is in place for Western Viti Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca Group, Kadavu and Northern Vanua Levu , Yasawa & Mamanuca waters, Southwest Viti Levu waters, Northern Vanua Levu waters, Kadavu waters and the Vatu-i-Ra Passage.

The Nadi Weather Office says Tropical Disturbance TD07F was located about 820km north-northwest of Nadi and is moving southeast at around 15km per hour, expected to pass between Vanuatu and Fiji.

They say TD07F may intensify into a Tropical Depression later today, however it has a low chance of becoming a Tropical Cyclone due to unfavourable environmental conditions.

The centre will remain west of Fiji, but rainbands associated with the system will affect the country.

The Office says these rainbands are currently located west of the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups and will bring heavy rain and fresh to strong north-northwesterly winds as they move east.

They say the rain and wind expected to ease from Friday morning

The Weather Office says they will continue to closely monitor the movement and development of TD07F and provide updates as conditions change.

Please stay alert, take necessary precautions, and keep up to date with official advisories.
