A Heavy Rain Warning and a Flash Flood Alert remains in force for the whole of Fiji as rainbands from Tropical Disturbance TD07F are expected to affect the country until Friday morning, although the system has a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.
A Strong Wind Warning remains in place for Western Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, Kadavu, and Northern Vanua Levu, as well as Yasawa and Mamanuca waters, Southwest Viti Levu waters, Northern Vanua Levu waters, Kadavu waters, and the Vatu-i-Ra Passage.
The Nadi Weather Office says Tropical Disturbance TD07F was located about 820 kilometres north-northwest of Nadi at 7am today and is moving southeast at around 15 kilometres per hour, and is expected to pass between Vanuatu and Fiji.
They say TD07F may intensify into a tropical depression later today, but the likelihood of it developing into a tropical cyclone remains low due to unfavourable environmental conditions.
The centre of the system is expected to remain west of Fiji, however rainbands associated with TD07F will move across the country.
The Weather Office says these rainbands, currently located west of the Yasawa and Mamanuca Groups, will bring periods of heavy rain and fresh to strong north-northwesterly winds as they move east.
Conditions are expected to gradually ease from Friday morning.
