A Heavy Rain Alert remains in force for the Fiji group, while tropical disturbance TD11F, which is being tracked close to Vanuatu, has a low chance of turning into a tropical cyclone over the next 24 hours.
The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure lies over Fiji, bringing with it associated
cloud, showers, and rain and is expected to affect the group for the next few days.
They say occasional rain, heavy at times, and a few thunderstorms over Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri, Serua-Namosi, Ra-Rakiraki, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands.
The Weather Office says rain will gradually spread to the rest of the group later today.
They say this may lead to flash flooding of flood prone low-lying informal settlements/communities, businesses, and Irish crossings, leading to traffic disruptions.
Surface flooding on streets in urban areas with poor drainage.
Wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy downpours, increase the risk of road accidents.
