Get ready to start 2026 with rain, as a Heavy Rain Alert is now in force for the whole of Fiji and is expected to last until Thursday.
The Nadi Weather Office says that an active trough of low pressure, associated with clouds and rain, is expected to approach from the west and affect the country from later tomorrow.
Speaking to fijivillage News, the forecaster says the weather is expected to clear from Friday.
The forecast for the Fiji group predicts occasional rain, heavy at times, with a few thunderstorms developing from later tomorrow.
The Weather Office warns that possible impacts include flash flooding in flood-prone, low-lying informal settlements, communities, businesses and Irish crossings, which may lead to traffic disruptions.
They add that surface flooding on streets is possible due to poor drainage.
