Heavy Rain Alert issued for Eastern Viti Levu, Yasawa, Lomaiviti, Lau and Northern Division

Heavy Rain Alert issued for Eastern Viti Levu, Yasawa, Lomaiviti, Lau and Northern Division

A Heavy Rain Alert is now in effect for Eastern Viti Levu which includes Serua, Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri to Ra provinces, Yasawa and Lomaiviti groups, and the rest of the Lau Group and remains for the Northern Division.

The Nadi Weather Office says a trough of low pressure, with associated cloud and rain located to the northeast of the group, continues to drift south and is expected to affect the country over the next few days.

They say the Northern Division, Eastern Viti Levu, Yasawa, Lau, and Lomaiviti groups will experience occasional rain, which is expected to increase from tonight.

The Nadi Weather Office says flash flooding of flood-prone, low-lying informal settlements and communities, businesses, and Irish Crossings may cause traffic disruptions.

Slippery road surfaces may lead to hazardous driving conditions, an increased risk of accidents, and travel delays — particularly in low-lying or poorly drained areas.
