A Heavy Rain Alert is in force for the Fiji group and a Strong Wind Alert is now in force for the land areas of western and northern Viti Levu, northern Vanua Levu, Yasawa and Mamanuca groups,  Kadavu and nearby islands.

The Nadi Weather Office says Tropical Disturbance TD07F was officially numbered today and was located just to the Northeast of Vanuatu and far Northwest of Fiji.

TD07F is expected to track south-southeast between Vanuatu and Fiji over the next two days, with a low chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.

However, it is anticipated to intensify into a Tropical Depression by today.

Associated strong winds and an active trough of low pressure are expected to bring occasional to periods of heavy rain over the country, along with strong winds from later today.

The winds are expected to ease by later tomorrow and the associated active trough of low pressure is expected to bring occasional to periods of rain over the Fiji Group from later today, easing by Friday.
