The Government of Fiji has taken a major step toward strengthening national security and digital resilience with the launch of the Ministry of Policing and Communications Strategic Plan 2025–2030, alongside the National Cybersecurity and Resilience Strategy 2026–2031 and a new national cybersecurity website.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the initiatives provide a clear and forward-looking roadmap to improve institutional effectiveness, accountability and service delivery, while responding to growing digital and security challenges.
Rabuka says Fiji is operating in an increasingly complex global environment where cyber threats, transnational crime, misinformation, and illicit drug trafficking are becoming more sophisticated.
He stresses that security today goes beyond physical borders and includes protecting digital systems, national infrastructure, and public trust.
The Prime Minister highlights that the new cybersecurity strategy will strengthen governance, protect critical infrastructure, improve incident response and build national awareness.
He adds that the national cybersecurity website will act as a central platform for public engagement, awareness and reporting cyber incidents, while equipping citizens with tools to stay safe online.
Rabuka also reaffirms the Government’s commitment to tackling drug-related crimes, revealing recent major seizures and operations, and acknowledging the role of community cooperation in combating illegal activities.

He says efforts are underway to strengthen coordinated enforcement through a proposed Joint National Enforcement Centre, bringing together key agencies to improve intelligence sharing and operational effectiveness.
Rabuka emphasises that security is a shared responsibility, calling on communities, civil society, and the private sector to work alongside Government in addressing issues such as cybercrime, drug abuse, and community safety.
He adds that the initiatives reflect a broader vision of a secure, resilient, and future-ready Fiji, aligned with national priorities of good governance, transparency, and sustainable development.
