Floodwaters started rising in the Ba Market Open Shed area this afternoon.
Special Administrator Moshim Khan says Naduka Creek has burst its banks, causing the flooding.
Khan says after teams worked tirelessly to clean the affected areas, the Ba Market reopened today, but only a few vendors turned up.
He adds that it has been raining continuously for the past three days.

Meanwhile, a heavy rain warning remains in force for all of Fiji.
The Nadi Weather Office confirms that a flash flood warning remains in force for whole of Viti Levu while a flash flood alert remains in force for the whole of Vanua Levu.

An active trough of low pressure lies over the Fiji islands. Associated cloud, showers, and rain are expected to affect the country until tomorrow.
