Flood and Heavy Rain Warnings remain in place for Fiji

A Flood Warning remains in force for all low lying flood prone areas adjacent to and downstream of Wailevu River in Macuata, while a Flash Flood Warning remains for the whole of Viti Levu.

Meanwhile, a Heavy Rain Warning continues for Ra, Naitasiri, Tailevu North, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, Lau and Lomaiviti Groups, but is cancelled for the rest of the Fiji group.

The Nadi Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the Fiji group.

They say a low-pressure system west of Viti Levu is bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds which will affect the country until Sunday.

Possible impacts include flooding of drainages, small streams, low water bridges, Irish Crossings, roads and properties in low lying areas.

Surface flooding is also expected on streets in urban areas with poor drainage, while wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during heavy downpours, may increase the risk of road accidents.
