Members of the public are being reminded that the Biosecurity Fiji Tongan Fruit Fly Regulations 2025 are now in force, and anyone who fails to comply will face fines.

Biosecurity Fiji highlights these regulations as crucial to preventing the spread of this serious pest.

They stress that failure to follow these regulations will result in fines, with individuals liable for up to $40,000 and body corporates up to $200,000 upon conviction.

Biosecurity Fiji further emphasises that movement restrictions apply in declared biosecurity emergency areas.

They further stress carrying or moving host fruits without approval is prohibited, and there should be no unauthorised movement of host material within or out of affected areas.
