160 missionaries serving in the Fiji Suva Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will observe a special Christmas Day filled with family connection, preparation, and spiritual reflection.
President of the Fiji Suva Mission, Mac La’ulu, says the day will begin with missionaries contacting their families, wherever they may be, as their top priority.
President La’ulu says many will celebrate with loved ones virtually, for the first or second time away from home.
He adds that throughout the day, missionaries will take part in preparation activities, including cleaning their living spaces and joining district gatherings.
He says these gatherings will feature games, lunch, and opportunities for fellowship.
Later, many missionaries will enjoy dinner with members from their wards or branches.
He adds that at 8pm, all missionaries will join a Christmas devotional via Zoom, which will include messages, music, and a focus on remembering Jesus Christ, His birth, and His life.
President La’ulu emphasizes the importance of family as a central unit in the gospel, saying, without the family, there is no church.
He also stresses that it is important for missionaries to maintain contact with their families.
He challenges missionaries to study the final week of Jesus Christ’s life, noting that understanding His life, death, and resurrection helps believers fully appreciate the blessings of his birth.
President La’ulu says Christmas in the Fiji Suva Mission is a time of reverence, gratitude, and focus on the Savior, bringing missionaries together in both joy and reflection, even when far from home.
