Fiji Airways strengthens Gold Coast connection through SUNS partnership and major flight sale

Fiji Airways has announced a landmark three-year agreement with AFL club the Gold Coast SUNS, strengthening Fiji’s presence in the Australian market as the national airline prepares to launch its new direct Gold Coast - Nadi service on June 11th, 2026.

The partnership is a strategic move to further grow visitor arrivals to Fiji, reinforcing the airline’s critical role in supporting tourism, the backbone of Fiji’s economy.

This collaboration places the Fiji brand in front of crowds of up to 20,000 fans at every SUNS home game, creating powerful visibility in one of Australia’s fastest-growing regions.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO, Paul Scurrah says the collaboration strengthens Fiji’s footprint in a key tourism market.

Scurrah says Australia remains Fiji’s largest tourism market, and the Gold Coast is a natural extension of their network.

He says this partnership not only supports the launch of their new direct service but also promotes Fiji as a premier holiday destination to thousands of Australian travellers each week.

The CEO says this partnership officially launches today, ahead of the SUNS’ season opener against Geelong on 6th March at People First Stadium on the Gold Coast.

He says fans can look forward to vibrant Fijian-themed halftime activations, cultural performances and exciting giveaways throughout the season, showcasing Fiji and promoting the new direct service.

This initiative also reflects Fiji Airways’ commitment to championing sport as a powerful platform for connection, inspiration and international visibility.

Gold Coast SUNS Chief Executive, Mark Evans says the partnership reflects the club’s commitment to the growth of the Gold Coast community and its expanding profile, both nationally and internationally.

Evans says they are thrilled to welcome Fiji Airways to their club.

He says Fiji Airways are playing a leading role in deepening connections between the Gold Coast and the Pacific region, and just like the Gold Coast SUNS, is committed to supporting the continued growth of the Gold Coast as a major destination.

The SUNS Executive says this partnership will not only provide benefits and open opportunities for SUNS members and fans looking to travel into the Pacific region, but it will further elevate their home game matchday experience at People First Stadium in 2026.

To mark the occasion, Fiji Airways is launching a limited-time sale, offering up to 45% off return fares from Nadi, Fiji, to the Gold Coast.

Beyond tourism, the new direct service will also provide greater opportunities for Fijians to travel to the Gold Coast for family visits, education, business and leisure, further strengthening community and economic ties between Fiji and Australia.

From 2nd to 9th March 2026, Fijians can enjoy Lite return fares from Nadi International Airport to the Gold Coast starting from $799.

Flights can be booked at FijiAirways.com. Sale fares apply to select travel dates and are available until sold out. Terms and conditions apply
