Kontiki Finance shareholders to receive 8 cents per share in dividends for 2026 financial year
Kontiki Finance Limited shareholders will receive 8 cents per share in dividends for the 2026 financial year, with the company increasing its total dividend payout by 14 percent compared to the previous year.

Speaking at the company's Annual General Meeting at Tanoa Plaza in Suva, Chairman Chirk Yam says the company is pleased to provide shareholders with a steady and increasing level of dividends.

He says the company’s shareholder base also grew by 58.7 percent, from 467 shareholders in 2025 to 741 in 2026, reflecting strong investor interest and confidence in the company.

Kontiki Finance has paid $48 million in dividends to shareholders since listing in 2016 and expects the total to exceed $50 million in the coming year.

Yam says the 2026 financial year was a year of consolidation for the Group, with each business making a positive contribution, particularly its Samoa operations.

He says the company continues to offer one of the highest dividend yields and most frequent dividend payments on the South Pacific Stock Exchange.

He says Fiji’s economic environment remained mixed, with strong tourism activity supporting growth, while rising living costs continued to put pressure on households in both Fiji and Samoa.

Yam says the Group’s assets under management increased by 6 percent, from $330 million to $350 million, in the financial year ended 30 June 2026.

He says the company's reported comprehensive income was lower than the previous year, partly because the company did not receive the same deferred tax benefit recognised last year and recorded lower profits from its investment portfolio.

He says interest rates charged by the company have remained largely stable, although competition in the lending market has increased as people become more financially literate.

Yam says the company’s priorities for 2027 include growing its lending business through profitable loans, improving efficiency, managing costs and increasing lending profitability.

He says the Group is confident about its performance in the new financial year, with Fiji and Samoa’s economies gaining strength and tourism continuing to grow.

He says the company is also continuing to learn more about the Samoan market as it works to grow its business in the country.

On the company’s Samoa operations, Yam says Kontiki Finance is pleased to have recorded a profit of $194,000 in its first year of operations.

He says operating in a new market takes time as the company learns more about the economy, the people and their behaviour.

Yam says fraud through digitisation remains a challenge for the financial industry, and the company spends considerable time and effort managing those risks.

He says the company is on a good trajectory towards meeting its targets for the current financial year, although fuel prices and their impact on inflation remain challenges businesses cannot always control.
