Fiji is expected to receive more visitors from the Gold Coast in Australia as Fiji Airways is expanding its Australian network with the launch of new direct flights between the Gold Coast and Nadi.

Special introductory fares are now on sale ahead of the inaugural service on Thursday, 11th June 2026.

Fiji Airways says the new service will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays using the modern Boeing 737 MAX 8.

The airline says the service will provide the Gold Coast community with a faster and more convenient connection to Fiji, while offering Fijians a quicker route to the Gold Coast.

The airline says the service, which operates in just over three hours, will bring an additional 53,000 seats into the market every year, creating greater connectivity and more opportunities for travellers.

To celebrate the launch, the country’s national carrier is offering special introductory return Lite fares from Fiji to the Gold Coast starting from $799. These fares are available until 31st December 2025.

Fiji Airways says fares can be booked at FijiAirways.com or through participating travel agents, with offers applying to select travel dates and available until sold out.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Scurrah says the new Gold Coast–Nadi route highlights the airline’s ongoing commitment to serving the Australian market.

He says the Gold Coast is a natural fit for Fiji Airways, as it is a thriving hub for tourism, business and major global events, while its population and infrastructure growth make it an increasingly important part of Australia’s future.

Scurrah says the new direct service strengthens ties between Fiji and Australia, unlocking significant opportunities for both outbound and inbound travel.

He adds that they are delighted to offer travellers on the Gold Coast a faster, direct link to Fiji for holidays, family visits and business, while also providing Fijians and international travellers with easier access to the Gold Coast region.

The CEO says as they pursue their vision to become the world’s happiest airline, they are excited to bring that spirit to the Gold Coast, pairing their award-winning service with the genuine warmth and care that Fiji is known for.

Queensland Airports Limited CEO Amelia Evans says Gold Coast Airport is thrilled that the new route will strengthen the special bond between Fiji and the Gold Coast.

She says Australians love holidaying in the beautiful islands of Fiji, and this new route will make their next getaway even easier.

Evans also says they are looking forward to welcoming more Fijians to visit friends and family in Australia, adding that there is no better way than flying direct to the Gold Coast.

She adds that compared to capital city airports, Gold Coast Airport offers an easier and smoother arrivals experience, with visitors able to begin their holiday from the moment they land.

The new service enhances inbound travel to the Gold Coast, providing Fijians and international visitors with a direct and effortless way to reach one of Australia’s premier leisure destinations and a major centre for film production, business events and global gatherings.

With the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games driving major infrastructure investment across Southeast Queensland, inbound demand is expected to grow even further in the coming years.

Queensland Tourism Minister Andrew Powell says the Crisafulli Government is proud to support the route through Destination 2045’s Connecting Queensland Fund.

Powell says they promised more strategic flights connecting Queensland to the world, and they are delivering.

He says the Fiji–Gold Coast route opens new pathways through the USA and Canada via Nadi, bringing tens of thousands of travellers directly to Queensland.

He adds that a $51 million boost to the economy will go straight to local cafes, hotels and experience operators, while supporting more than 100 direct jobs.

The Gold Coast becomes Fiji Airways’ seventh Australian destination and the fourth destination where competing options previously required a one-stop journey, giving the airline a strong competitive advantage in meeting the region’s accelerating travel demand.

Fiji Airways says it looks forward to welcoming Gold Coast travellers onboard from June 2026, sharing the renowned Fijian hospitality, happiness and world-class service that continue to earn the airline global acclaim.
