Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Scurrah has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2026 Australia Day Honours, in recognition of his significant service to the transport, logistics and freight sectors in Australia.

The Order of Australia is the nation’s principal honours system, recognising Australians who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, leadership and service.

Appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia acknowledges individuals whose work has delivered sustained impact within their profession and the wider community.

Scurrah says he is deeply honoured to receive the recognition.

He says he is humbled by the award and grateful to have worked alongside many dedicated people across Australia’s transport and logistics sectors over many years.

He adds that these industries are about connecting people, businesses and communities, and any contribution he has made is the result of strong teams working with a shared sense of purpose.

Scurrah also says he is equally proud of the work being done at Fiji Airways, serving Fiji and connecting the islands to the world.

Fiji Airways says Scurrah’s appointment recognises more than two decades of leadership across Australia’s transport and logistics industries and national freight services.

The airline says that throughout his career, he has led complex, large-scale organisations through periods of transformation, with a strong focus on safety, operational resilience, workforce engagement, customer service and national connectivity.

It adds that in Australia, Scurrah is widely recognised for strengthening supply chain capability, modernising logistics operations, improving safety performance and supporting essential services that underpin economic activity and community wellbeing.

Fiji Airways says his work has contributed to improved industry standards and helped ensure critical freight and logistics networks continued to operate reliably during times of disruption and change.

Fiji Airways Chair Nalin Patel says the honour reflects both Scurrah’s professional legacy in Australia and the leadership he now brings to Fiji’s national airline.

Patel says Scurrah’s appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia is a significant and well-deserved recognition of his contribution to industries that are fundamental to national and regional connectivity.

He adds that the Board is proud to have a leader of Scurrah’s calibre guiding Fiji Airways.

Patel says Scurrah’s international experience, values-based leadership and commitment to people, safety and excellence continue to strengthen the airline and position it well for sustainable long-term growth.
