Families living in LP Maharaj Field 40 in Lautoka are finally enjoying peaceful evenings outdoors, free from the fear of stoning, which had been a long-standing issue.

Community Chair Elia Bolawaqatabu informed fijivillage News that police have begun regular patrols and are now making use of chairs, a table, a tent, and a solar light donated by residents to keep the area safe and welcoming.

Bolawaqatabu says people can now relax on their verandas and share grog with loved ones without worrying about being targeted.

He expressed his gratitude to the police for their ongoing support in restoring peace in the neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, Bolawaqatabu stresses with help from relevant authorities, the trees where youths used to gather, drink, and swear at people have been trimmed.

Bolawaqatabu also confirmed that a meeting with police is planned soon to discuss the setup of a new police post.
