Ethical conduct of LTA officers under scrutiny
Ensuring ethical conduct is at the heart of the Fijian government’s plans to introduce body cameras for Land Transport Authority officers.

Minister for Transport, Ro Filipe Tuisawau highlighted ongoing concerns over complaints about LTA staff conduct, saying that officers must carry out their duties with integrity, from instructor level right up to management.

LTA CEO, Irimaia Rokosawa confirmed that body cameras  are being piloted for six officers.

Rokosawa highlighted challenges such as budget constraints, privacy concerns, and determining when cameras should be activated.

He says cameras should be switched on during interactions, and if an officer fails to activate one, they are held accountable.

He adds that a balance must be struck between ethical oversight and operational and privacy considerations.
The initiative aims to strengthen transparency, uphold governance standards, and ensure officers perform their duties fairly and ethically while serving the public.
