Great news for Fijians and the people of Rakiraki, as the newly upgraded Ellington Wharf in Rakiraki has reopened, improving inter-island connectivity for communities in Ra and beyond.

Minister for Public Works, Ro Filipe Tuisawau stresses that the reopening of Ellington Wharf will create reliable, safe, and efficient transport links across Fiji.

He adds that the Fiji Roads Authority has also upgraded 366 metres of unsealed section and jetty area to sealed road, and installed five streetlights at the jetty wharf area to ensure safe commuting and accessibility.

Tuisawau says the wharf plays a vital role in driving economic activity, helping local businesses, farmers, and entrepreneurs by providing better market access and cutting down travel time.

He is urging community members and stakeholders to work together to fully utilise the upgraded facility and help maintain its long-term sustainability.
