At an outing to Beachcomber yesterday, Fijian Drua co-captain Temo Mayanavanua was spotted helping return a turtle to the sea.

The moment was captured in a video shared by the Fijian Drua team online, showing Mayanavanua assisting the turtle safely back into the water and highlighting his commitment to conservation and community engagement off the field.

Fijian Drua General Manager Commercial Shane Hussein told fijivillage News that the activity was part of the team’s pre-season preparations, with the forwards spending the day separately from the backs.

Hussein says the team visited Beachcomber Island Resort, where they took part in underwater activities designed to build team bonding and strengthen relationships among the players.

He says it was wonderful to see Mayanavanua take the opportunity to help the turtle and that the team appreciated being part of the experience.

Hussein adds that perseverance is an important value for the Fijian Drua.

The Drua are now preparing for their 2026 Super Rugby Pacific campaign.

They will open their season against Moana Pasifika on 14th February at Churchill Park in Lautoka, before facing the Waratahs on 20th February in Sydney and the Hurricanes on 28th February in Lautoka.
