The Radiology Department at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital remains closed until Monday after staff took time off in lieu.
fijivillage News visited the department this morning and confirmed that it was closed.
According to information we have received, the closure follows the exhaustion of the overtime budget, after which a circular from the Ministry of Health was issued directing departments to stop overtime payments and instead give staff time off in lieu.
The radiology department is short-staffed, with employees having to work extra hours.
In the event of emergency cases, patients requiring urgent service will be transferred to Oceania Hospital.
Health Minister Dr. Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Luisa Cikamatana have not responded to us yet.
Meanwhile, no official statement has been issued to alert the people regarding this.
