Coral Coast Fiji 7s: USA dominate Mike Friday Select side 31-14

The USA 7s team have stamped their mark in the McDonald's Coral Coast Fiji 7s after demolishing a star studded Mike Friday Select 7s side 31-14.

The Mike Friday Select 7s drew first blood through Terry Kennedy who darted through the middle within to take an early 7-0 lead.

The USA quickly replied with three quick tries to lead 17-7 at halftime.

Another two tries were scored by the USA in the second half through veteran Ben Brosell and Adam Channel.

The Mike Friday side had the last say through Ireland speedster Jordan Conroy who ran through untouched to score under the sticks bringing the score to 31-14.

In another game, indiscipline almost cost the Axellarate Dominion Brothers as they were shown two yellow cards against the Chennai Bulls Select, having to score in the last minute to secure the game 29-24.

International Sydney Fijians edged Pacific Warriors Canada 21-19, Y-IS Kava Vacalea beat Bula Bay 7s 14-5, Ravuka Sharks thumped NZ Development 7s 22-7, Devo Babas defeated Wardens 17-5, Police Blue edged Sydney Nadi 12-10, NZ Fijian Cavaliers beat Henibua 7s 17-7, while Aussie Select 7s defeated Uso Tasi 27-12.

In the youth competition, Shogun Fiji Highlanders thrashed Japan SDS 31-7, Sunnybank Dragons defeated Aqua Pro Savuiqali 12-5, Birdland Brothers beat Village Boys 22-0, Axellerate Dominion Brothers drew 12-all with Coastal Tubarua Highlanders, and Taveuni Grassroots Fiji thrashed Sydney Bula 7s 31-0.

In the women’s results, China 2 defeated Briars 17-7, China 1 beat Lillian Amazon 26-17, and Fijiana 7s thrashed Manly Mermaids 42-0.
