The People's Republic of China has launched its 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development, providing a top-level design and strategic blueprint for China’s economic and social development over the next five years.
Five-Year Plans are not unique to China, however, only China has consistently implemented the plans and achieved great success.
Chargé d’Affaires and interim Minister-Counsellor Wang Yuan says the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030) will be a critical stage for consolidating the foundations and making comprehensive efforts toward the goal of basically achieving socialist modernization, and thus holds a vital position of bridging past achievements and future modernization goals.
He says the seven major objectives of economic and social development during the upcoming period are: high-quality development, scientific and technological self-reliance and strength, further deepening reform comprehensively, cultural and moral progress, improving quality of life, advancing the Beautiful China initiative, and strengthening national security.
Yuan says building on this, they will work hard for a further five years to see that by the year 2035, China’s composite national strength and international influence will both be markedly stronger, that its per capita GDP will be on a par with that of moderately developed countries, and that socialist modernization will be basically realized.
He adds that to achieve this goal, China will put the people first, pursue high-quality development, comprehensively deepen reform, promote both an efficient market and a well-functioning government, and ensure both development and security under the great leadership of the CPC.
The Chinese Chargé d’Affaires says they will unswervingly expand high-level opening-up, share development opportunities with the rest of the world, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
The Chinese Chargé d’Affaires also launched the commemorative cover on the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between China and Fiji.
