Chaudhry urges Fijians to share with neighbours in need this Christmas

If you have a little extra this Christmas, share it with a neighbour in need as small acts of kindness are the sparks that keep our national spirit alive.

Fiji Labour Party Leader Mahendra Chaudhry is making this call where he says Christmas is a season of peace, hope and joy and it signifies redemption and renewed hope for a better future.

He says they know that for many of our families this year the festive lights may feel a little dimmed by the weight of reality as they struggle to overcome hardships.

Chaudhry says the soaring cost of basic food items, the burden of increased taxes, and the daily struggle to make ends meet have made it difficult to celebrate in the traditional way.

The FLP Leader says his thoughts are with those unfortunate families who are finding it hard to put a festive meal on the table or put gift parcels under the tree for their little ones.

Chaudhry says the message of Christmas, however, is essentially one of hope and renewal and it tells us that through compassion, unity, and a steadfast commitment to justice, we can overcome problems that beset us.

He has acknowledged and thanked all those individuals, businesses, charitable and faith-based organisations who are conscious of the suffering out there and are doing whatever they can to bring some happiness into the lives of the needy this Christmas.

Chaudhry adds as we look towards the New Year, we can only hope that we can build a more compassionate and equitable Fiji.
