Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has stressed that the careFiji app does not record the personal details of an individual such as where a person was and who they were with.

Sayed-Khaiyum says a number of people who are well educated often ask him if the app will reveal where they were.

He says this does not happen.

Sayed-Khaiyum says for example if he gets COVID-19, then the phone numbers of all who were present will go to the Ministry of Health dashboard.

Sayed-Khaiyum says it is concerning that only about 50,000 people in the country have downloaded the careFiji app so far.

He says the level of apprehension by the people in not understanding the big picture is quite surprising.
