The Cabinet has approved the surrender of a portion of the Colo-i-Suva Forest Reserve lease to allow the Water Authority of Fiji to upgrade and expand its water infrastructure.

The Cabinet says the project will focus on the Sawani to Colo-i-Suva corridor and is aimed at improving water service delivery for communities between Sawani and Tacirua.

They add that the surrendered portion of the forest reserve is located next to WAF’s existing reservoir in Colo-i-Suva, where the infrastructure extension will be carried out.

The Cabinet says the upgrade will improve the reliability and capacity of water supply, supporting the growing needs of residents in the surrounding areas.
