Bainimarama says he was invited up Rabuka as a former Army Commander and former PM

Bainimarama says he was invited up Rabuka as a former Army Commander and former PM

Former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the reason he was invited up for the cutting of the commemoration cake for the returning soldiers from Iraq by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka at Albert Park today is because they are both former Army Commanders.

Bainimarama says this is a good thing for Fiji.

Rabuka and Bainimarama shook hands, hugged and cut the commemoration cake together after the formalities were done for the welcoming of the return of the first battalion Fiji Infantry regiment from the UNAMI in Iraq.

Rabuka told Bainimarama to come and join him at the front to help cut the cake as he was one of the leaders that sent the soldiers to Iraq.

After the cake cutting ceremony Bainimarama was then seated on Rabuka's right at the top.

Speaking to fijivillage News after inviting Bainimarama, Rabuka told us that appearing at the Fiji Truth and Reconciliation Commission and not ‘walking the talk’ would be meaningless.
