Empower Pacific has been receiving calls from people in the Nadi and Lautoka Containment Area saying that they are afraid to leave their homes because of the fear of spreading or contracting the COVID-19 virus.

CEO Patrick Morgam says most of the people calling have the fear of spreading or contracting the virus and are requesting health ministry personnel to visit their homes and conduct screenings.

The Health Ministry’s contact tracing, swab tests and screening clinics are currently underway in many parts of the country while house to house visits are underway in the Nadi and Lautoka Containment Area.

He says they have also received calls from people needing assistance in terms of food and other items since most of the people in the Western Division have been severely affected by the pandemic since the first case was announced in March last year.

The CEO says they are providing 24/7 online counselling services to anyone facing some difficulties during this time.

Morgam adds the online counselling services will be provided through phone as they want to limit people’s movement.

Empower Fiji has their offices at Lautoka, Nadi, Suva and Labasa and if people would like to access their counselling services they can call 7765-626 for Digicel users and 2937141 for Vodafone/Inkk users.
