Youngsters like Isikeli Junior Sevanaia and Thomas Dunn force their way in the national soccer squad

Ba’s 17-year-old goalkeeper, Isikeli Junior Sevanaia has forced his way into the Vodafone national football squad that will go into camp for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

Sevanaia is currently the talk of the town after saving three penalties against Rewa in the Punjas BOG last weekend.

Navua’s 17-year-old striker, Thomas Dunn who scored against Lautoka is also part of National squad.

National head coach, Flemming Serritslev has roped in a number of young and new faces which also includes 18-year-olds Ba defender, Mitieli Naiviro and Rewa’s Inoke Turagalailai.

Serritslev says they do not know when the qualifiers will be and need to be ready as soon as they get the confirmation.

He says they cannot wait to prepare until it is only one month away from the qualifiers.

The Vodafone National football team will be going into camp at the Fiji FA Academy in Ba next Monday.

30-member extended squad:

Goalkeepers: Isikeli Junior Sevanaia (Ba), Akuila Mateisuva (Labasa), Vereti Dickson (Nadi), Beniamino Mateinaqara (Suva).

Defenders: Mitieli Naiviro (Ba), Lekima Gonerau (Labasa), Antonio Tuivuna (Labasa), Sitiveni Rakai (Labasa), Edward Aaron (Lautoka), Afraz Ali (Nadi), Sekove Naivakananumi (Nasinu), Inoke Turagalailai (Rewa), Simione Nabenu (Suva), Remueru Tekiate (Suva), Filipe Baravilala (Suva).

Midfielders: Abbu Zahid (Ba), Malakai Rakula (Lautoka), Muni Shivam Naidu (Lautoka), Thomas Dunn (Navua), Kavaia Rawaqa (Rewa), 22 Patrick Joseph (Rewa), Anish Khem (Rewa), Tevita Waranivalu (Rewa), Ilisoni Logaivou (Labasa), Akeimi Ralulu (Labasa), Ashnil Raju (Labasa).

Strikers: Roy Krishna (ATK Mohun Bagan), Setareki Hughes (Rewa), Siotame Kubu (Labasa), Christopher Wasasala (Suva).
