Younger generation is being negatively influenced by people overseas regarding vaccination for COVID-19 - Singh

The President of the Sikh Association of Fiji, Bayant Singh says he has been noticing some hesitancy among the younger generation to get vaccinated for COVID-19 as they are being negatively influenced by people overseas who are cancelling their vaccine appointments however, he is encouraging all members to believe in the science and get vaccinated against COVID-19.

He says to counter that, the World Health Organisation and other credible medical authorities have come out with supporting facts that getting vaccinated is crucial to combat this virus.

Singh says there is no religious connotation or belief against getting vaccinated and he is going to encourage his community based on facts to get vaccinated.

The Association's President says he has been making his community aware by emailing leaders in the various districts as they have not been able to gather, however, he will now encourage and educate his members and community through social media.

Singh says many Fijians have a mentality of not taking things seriously but this needs to change.

Singh adds the government can only do so much but it is up to the people to follow the directives and get vaccinated as soon as possible.
