The Young Kulas have been knocked out of semi-final contention at the OFC U-16 Women’s Championship after suffering a heavy 6-0 defeat to New Caledonia in Apia, Samoa today.
Despite flashes of promise from Shania Singh and Adi Reva in attack, Fiji struggled to match the intensity and organisation of a clinical New Caledonia side, who took control of the match early and never let up.
Kinë Hmaen scored twice whole, Heidra Adjouhgniope, Matha Bako, Sélapalé Sameke and Bernadette Nyikeine scored a goal each for New Caledonia.
Coach Marika Rodu’s side will now play for the minor placings in the tournament after failing to advance from the group stages.
New Caledonia is expected to progress to the semi-finals as Group B runners-up behind hosts Samoa.
