Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has reminded graduating students of Monfort Boys Town in Savusavu that they are changemakers, community builders and symbols of what is possible when education is inclusive, accessible and practical.
While officiating at the graduation ceremony this morning, Rabuka told the graduates that technical and vocational training is not a fallback option, but a powerful pathway to employment, entrepreneurship, creativity, and a better Fiji.
He says Montfort Boys Town was established to provide young people with an alternative pathway to a better future, and over the years it has become a place of learning, discipline, and transformation for generations of students.
Rabuka says the institution has grown to become more than a school, saying it is a community of care, skill-building, and a fountain of hope for young people across Fiji, particularly those from poor and vulnerable backgrounds
He highlighted that Montfort Boys Town provides two vital forms of training, home training, which focuses on discipline, character development, personal responsibility, and social skills, and vocational training, which equips students with practical skills to earn a living and support their families.
These skills include cabinet making, motor vehicle mechanics, panel beating, carpentry, plumbing, block laying, and agriculture.
Rabuka says these are lifelong skills contribute directly to nation-building.
A total of 44 students graduated today from Montfort Boys Town in Savusavu.
