Yasawa starts to experience heavy rain and strong winds

Yasawa villagers are starting to experience heavy rain and strong winds.

Naviti Village Church Steward, Lakai Lesulala says the villagers have started putting up shutters and tying down their homes to prepare for the approaching system.

He says they are closely following weather updates on the radio and they will move to their evacuation centre when the rain and winds worsen.

Speaking from Nasoqo Village, Waisea Stark says they are only experiencing rough seas but no rain and winds as yet.

A Tropical Cyclone Alert is now in force for the Yasawa and Mamanuca Group.
