A lot of women quit even before they take on the challenges that are ahead of them.

These were the sentiments shared by the Director of Local Government, Bindula Devi and the Chief Executive Officer of the Nausori and Nasinu Town Council Anurashika Bari who were panelists at the International Women's Day event at the Australian High Commission.

While she was sharing her journey in joining the Local Government Ministry, Bari says she was not used to her work as it was mostly male dominated.

She says when she would take up proposals to decision-makers, the room would be full of men but from there she built her confidence.

Meanwhile, Bindula Devi says the major challenge she faced was the preparation and implementation of policies for municipal councils.

Devi says the journey is challenging with a lot of issues to deal with but she never gave up as her job was always demanding.
