Winston Hill hints on move to politics

Is politics next for Fijian boxer Winston Hill ?

The 2018 Commonwealth Bronze medalist is looking to put his focus and energy in a more effective arena than boxing after losing to Samoan boxer Marion Faustino Ah Tong in the Men’s Welterweight category during the Olympic Qualifiers in Jordan.

After that defeat, Hill took to social media saying he feels his focus and energy may be more effective in another arena, may it be business, coaching, development, another sport, mentoring, or even politics.

Hill says representing the country on the international stage has its wonderful glories and burdensome responsibilities but the lesson learnt and experiences from it are priceless and it is something he will not trade for money.

He adds the people, the places, the wins, the losses, and the lessons, have all been something that only a few may experience and he is thankful to his family, friends and all who have been supporting him throughout his Amateur Boxing career.

Jone Davule also lost to Thailand’s Phoemsap Atichai in the Olympic Qualifiers.

The loss means Davule and Hill have lost their chances of qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in July.
