Rewa soccer coach Marika Rodu says winning the Punjas Battle of the Giants tournament is a bonus to them financially as almost 90 per cent of the players were struggling due to COVID-19.

Rewa won the Punjas BOG yesterday after beating Suva 1-0 in the final through a Bruce Hughes goal in the first half.

They also won the 17,000 dollars prize money.

Speaking to Legend FM Sports after the final yesterday, Rodu says most of them had been suffering during COVID-19 and this is a good opportunity to take the incentive back to their families and catch up on their financial needs.

Captain Setareki Hughes says the prize money was something that was always in their minds coming into the tournament.

Hughes also says it was a proud moment for him to see his younger brother score the winning goal in the final.

Hughes says this was the first time they have won a tournament together and the credit goes to him for the hard work.
