Winner of Navtarang Sargam Holi sweets competition makes 70 different sweets and savouries

The winner of the Navtarang/Sargam Rang Birangi Mithaiya Competition says she prepared 70 different types on sweets and savouries for the competition.

The competition was judged during the Rang Barse Stage Show at Rups Mega Complex in Nakasi today.

Sushil Mati says she spent three days making these sweets that includes some unique sweets such as cucumber peda, carrot barfi, shakarkala and chandrapala.

The Wainadoi, Navua resident says this is the 4th time she has won a Holi sweets competition with Radio Navtarang and Sargam.

She has received $250.

Second prize winner and the only male contestant, Shafiq Mohammed says he has been making sweets for the past 15 years.

He says he spent about a week making the sweets.

Mohammed says his mother taught him how to make sweets. He won $150.

Sugra Habib won came third and got $100.

The competition was sponsored by Goldren Harvest Mixed Vegetable and Garden Peas.

Meanwhile, the Rang Barse Holi Stage Show continues where hundreds of people have gathered in Nakasi and are enjoying the performances by Yuva Dance Crew, the announcers and folk singers.

Senior Contents Director, Satya Nand will be taking the stage at 6pm.

The shows major sponsors are Apco Paints and Digicel Fiji.
