Prominent Suva Lawyer Richard Naidu

Prominent Suva Lawyer, Richard Naidu says when the late Professor Brij Lal wrote about Fiji, he wrote with passion that defied academic discipline.

While speaking during Lal’s Condolence Gathering, Naidu says Professor Lal made our history human, readable and accessible, which is so important.

Naidu says now Professor Lal is gone, so who will write our history now adding that we cannot be all eminent historians but we can all be historical sources.

He also says one day the current chapter in our political history which began with a so-called clean up campaign, will end.

Naidu says and then we will be left to do the real cleaning up adding that only then can Fiji be a better country, only then we can realize the ambitions that those like Lal have for all of us.

He adds we have huge obstacles to overcome, we are a country wrecked with increasing poverty, apathy and mistrust in the good that government’s can do.
