To honour such an outstanding academic and brave historian and a true son of Fiji, the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has proposed that statues of the Late Prof Brij Lal to be built and erected at Nadi Airport, next to the brave soldier - Sergeant Talaiasi Labalaba, Girmit Centre in Lautoka, a central location in Labasa Town and one next to Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna’s statue in Suva.

This was stated by the President of the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Doctor Ram Raju.

Doctor Raju says this would be a most fitting tribute to honour such a distinguished scholar.

He says Doctor Padma Lal is no less an academician and historian who has written several books and articles on the struggles of farmers and the sugar cane industry.

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President says by revoking the unjustified prohibition order placed on Doctor Padma Lal, the wife of late Professor Brij Lal, the Rabuka Coalition Government has cemented their policy of not tolerating any form of injustice.

He says the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry expresses its foremost gratitude towards the Coalition Government for their noble action towards the late Professor Brij Lal and his family.

He says they are all aware of the Late Prof Brij Lal’s contribution towards the preservation and history of the Girmityas.

The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry President says the late Professor Lal’s tremendous work and commitment remains unparalleled in modern times.

He adds they warmly welcome the tate Professor Brij Lal home together with his family.
